Eglė Ulčickaitė

Eglė Ulčickaitė was born in 1989 in Alytus and resides in Vilnius. From 2007 to 2013, she studied painting at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees. In 2018, she completed her Doctorate in Fine Arts.

Since 2010, Eglė has been actively participating in national and international exhibitions. In 2010, under the Erasmus program, she studied at the Utrecht School of the Arts in the Netherlands, and in 2014, she participated in a residency in Düsseldorf, Germany. In the same year, 2014, she joined the Painting Department at the Vilnius Academy of Arts as a docent and became a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union in 2015.

Eglė’s work is deeply autobiographical, exploring themes of time and memory through domestic scenes, interior details, landscapes, and portraits. Her paintings often reflect the Soviet era, using psychoanalytic concepts to reinterpret traumatic historical elements as exotic objects, inviting viewers to reassess the past.

The painter was awarded an individual LTKT scholarship for artists in 2019 and an NRW scholarship for her residency in Düsseldorf in 2014. In 2016, she became the laureate of the XVI International Vilnius Painting Triennial "Nomadic Images." Eglė’s works are exhibited in the MO Museum and various private sector collections in Lithuania and abroad.
